Utah politicians have opportunity to make an impact in D.C.
Mia Love deservedly grabbed the lion’s share of the headlines this week when she became the first black female Republican to fill a seat on the U.S. House of Representatives.
However, she was far from the only Utah politician to make news on the national stage this week.
Somewhat lost locally in all of the Love hoopla is the fact that Sen. Orrin Hatch is now third in the line of succession for the presidency after being sworn in as the new president pro tempore of the senate. Sen. Mike Lee is one of the recently appointed four counsels to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, and Rep. Jason Chaffetz is chairing the House Oversight and Reform Committee.
