My view: Congress must tackle tough issues
Taking tough votes, picking the important fights and addressing the most complex problems is the job of every member of Congress. We have an obligation to be fearless in the pursuit of good government, sound principles and effective solutions.
I was elected to Congress by taking tough positions on important issues. I also picked a challenging but important battle with a 12-year incumbent Republican to win my seat. I promised to address some of our stickiest problems — including spending, immigration, government transparency and accountability.
Six years later, I’m proud to say I’ve not only kept those promises, but have positioned myself to be able to double down on many of the commitments I made in that first campaign.
