I was invited to Utah by LaVell Edwards to be a placekicker on the BYU Football team in the mid-1980s.  My years at BYU literally transformed my life, for which I am forever grateful.  I remember driving to Provo with everything I owned and a few hundred dollars in my pocket.  Little did I know how much the experiences would shape and mold my life.

After a successful football career at BYU and earning my degree in Communications, I married my wife, Julie.  In February 2008 we will celebrate our 17th wedding anniversary.  We have three wonderful children, Max, Ellis, and Kate.

My mother passed away in 1995 after a long fight with cancer.  About that time, I recall being deeply touched by the overwhelming generosity of the Huntsman family in fighting cancer.  Their commitment was more than words, they personally donated hundreds of millions of dollars to fight cancer.

When I heard Jon Huntsman, Jr. was thinking of running for Governor of Utah, I simply wanted to meet the man.  Through a mutual friend, a meeting was set up and I eventually joined the Huntsman for Governor staff.  Shortly thereafter, I was named Campaign Manager.  We ran a positive, hard working campaign.  Things went well and Jon Huntsman, Jr. became Utah’s 16th Governor.  The Governor invited me to continue working with him as his Chief of Staff.  I can not thank the Governor and his family enough for the two years I spent in his service.  Thank you!

In November 2005 I again joined the private sector managing my own company, Maxtera Utah, serving client companies to achieve their corporate communications and marketing needs.

I am now a candidate for the Republican nomination in Utah's Third Congressional District because a return to conservative principles is our best hope.  Since Mr. Cannon took office, fiscal discipline is not a priority, there is no accountability, illegal immigration is worse, he voted in favor of No Child Left Behind, and his ethics and public comments have been an embarrassment.

If you want more of the status quo, support Cannon.  But if you want to change the way Republicans do business in Washington D.C., I will work tirelessly to make that happen.

Thank you,
