Republican Congressman Jason Chaffetz is demanding answers from Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano as outrage grows after a series of Images of airport security guards patting down young children appeared online.

One picture shows two Transportation Security Administration officers apparently laughing as they give a young baby a full body search as the child’s mother holds the tot in the air.

Chaffetz, the chairman of the National Security, Homeland Defense and Foreign Operations Subcommittee says the “enhanced procedures” go against the TSA’s own guidelines exempting kids under 13, the Daily Caller reports.

(CNN) -- At the conclusion of the decade-long manhunt for the world's most notorious terrorist, U.S. military forces are receiving well-deserved credit for a mission accomplished. The elimination of Osama bin Laden was made possible by a strong intelligence operation and well-trained special forces units under the Joint Special Operations Command.

In the global war on terror, the combination of actionable intelligence and highly mobile special forces has proven most effective against an enemy that is not limited to a single geographic location.

Amid the worldwide celebration of bin Laden's death, we must recognize that the nature of this war does not require the placement of 100,000 troops in one country. It was not the 100,000 troops that took out bin Laden. We can bring many of those troops home and still effectively fight terrorism around the world.

Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, led the attack in a House hearing focused on the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The hearing was an outgrowth of trips Chaffetz and other House members made to Haiti, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq — places where USAID has a major presence. He became frustrated with a lack of information and became convinced the agency had mismanaged its money.

"Americans are paying top dollar for foreign assistance. Unfortunately, the taxpayer is not getting top-dollar results," said Chaffetz, chairman of the House subcommittee on foreign affairs, pointing to USAID’s programs in Haiti where rubble and trash overwhelm many streets and many still have no electricity.

(AP)The Obama administration's decision this week to reverse a Bush-era policy and restore eligibility for federal wilderness protection to millions of undeveloped acres of land has outraged Republicans who plan to challenge the move once they take control of the House next month.

"We all love surprises at Christmas time, but I am pretty sure this is not what any of us had in mind," said Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, who says that more than two-thirds of his congressional district is owned or controlled by the federal government.

Fiscal Discipline

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama and Democratic lawmakers weighed a temporary cut in Social Security taxes, eager to get a year-end agreement with Republicans to extend expiring income tax cuts to all Americans and renew jobless benefits for the long-term unemployed.

Officials familiar with the discussions said the plan would reduce the payroll tax for workers from the current 6.2 percent to 4.2 percent. The proposal would replace a tax credit for middle- and low-income workers that ends Dec. 31.
